getting a head

So one of my dear friends is totally not a little bird kind of person.  He is actually pretty hardco' (almost in the most literal of senses), and I am seeing him tomorrow so I thought I would make him something more appropriate.  I was thinking about putting a santa hat on the frankenstein head (because it IS an ornament) but I decided not to so he could hang it from his car rearview mirror for year round delightment.  p.s. 50th blog entry for the year!  Combined with Obscurity, my character blog, that equals over 100!  And most of them are new pieces of artwork.  Actually, I would say 98% are.  Yay me and my stick-to-itivness!

well, jingle mah bells

Here is a peek at the annual "anna is poor so she makes things for her best friends" ornament!
The ring is at the bottom so that it can nestle on tree branches, giving it the illusion that it is sitting.  Im a clever little bean arent I?

Finger Fowl

Happy handturkey thanksgiving day! My favorite is the parade.  I embrace the commercialism.

Duck tales

Here is a sneak peek of a desk calendar I am designing.  I am still trying to limit myself to three or four colors (per page/month) for this project simply because then it is cheaper to have it Offset printed.  Eventually.  If ever.  Oye.  We will see.  I am going to go back to make it all extra crisply cohesive.  Also, the letters and numbers are going to be more lined up.  I have lots of kerning to do. And I might add word bubbles.  THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!

There are alot of fallen leaves outside my room.  I can hear them crunch crunching whenever a squirrel decides he needs to torment el gatos.  Autumn is probably my favorite time of year, next to winter.  So what speaks better of October than a zombie girl riding a bike next to her zombie puppy?  Nothing, my friends, absolutely nothing.

here is a page in my sketchbook.  (I am busy painting.  It takes me three times as long to do something with paint than it does with adobe products.  which is annoying, but whatevs.)  There might be more updates like this.  We will see.  We will see.

I have been busy this week (doing things for The Pier Aquarium, running down to Saraslowta to Ringling to talk to my favorite teacher blahblahblah) and thus have not been home to work on art (what I would rather do)
So, in leu of the lack of work, I am going to show you yet another sewing project I completed.  It is what started out a library bag, but ended up my carry-all...literally.  It still does the majority of library book carrying because I love me some books.  In an almost unhealthy way.

Ooh! Those plaid elephants!

I made this for my dear friend Johnny 3d who loves him some elephants.  I tried to make it look like it is a boy's elephant.  My first 3d stuffed animal!  (As in, it has actual limbs instead of being like an animal pillow).  Seemed only appropriate.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

So, Matty loves peanut butter and also chicken.  He commissioned me to make him a stuffed PB and J sandwich (its the theme of his website: so I did and totally made it so you can take it apart.  I had to make him a chicken leg too.  Anyway, then I got even more carried away and made it a sandwich bag.  That velcros closed.  I thought it would be funny.  Anyway I am a beginner sewer so its not perfect but I think its cute at least.
Mmm delicious

So I totally stole into a figure class supa quick but unfortunately it was a boring seating pose so I didn't do much.  But I thought I would post SOMETHING because I am currently painting and thus have nothing I can show, and I hate to leave things unblogged for too long.  Live with it!

p.s. doing figure again was way more fun than I remember
p.s.s. that teacher was all kinds of cray cray

Prophet of Doooooooooom

Matty-Mo my bro bro and I had a collective project.  It was to design our own version of a prophet of doom.  So I thought it would be funny since in this image, both of these characters are prophets of doom.  And its loosely based off a real life event.

ghost lovin'

So, is it too early for me to be dreaming about Halloween?  Which is one of my most favorite of favorite holly-days?  And that it kicks off the holly-day season?  AND THAT I CANNOT WAIT I WANT IT HERE NOW

So bare(bear?) with me as I am doing three things: Playing with spacial relations (not the sexy kind), working more graphically, and sticking to monochromatic or at MOST 3 colors.  Oh yeah, and also aged.  I am going to age things more.  More than I already have.  Cause I can.

Hurly Burly

Letterhead.  FINALLY one I like.  I have done about...oh LEAST 6 in the last 8 months.  Never was happy with them until this one.  That break earlier really renewed my sense of need to draw and do creative things.  Oh hurray!

Seeing as I have not posted in forever....this is totally what I turned into after returning home:

Sloth enjoying the little things.  Except its more like I am healing after a very long year of being very, very alone.  It is just like ripping a band-aide off of a scab, so that it's all raw and stuff and then it heals pretty well except there is a tiny scar after its all done.  I'm still at the scab stage, but at least I am not all infected and gangrened and shit....although, it amuses me to think of what kind of artwork that would issue forth.  AWESOME.  In the true sense of the word, not the slang.  I've been doing actual freelance work but I totally am not a freelance gal.
I have shut myself off from the world for a bit, and I am not going to lie, it is nice.  I need it right now.   My friends understand.  No portfolio artwork, just books and gardening and also riding my sweet, sweet MINT GREEN BEACH CRUISER.  LOOK AT IT AND ITS MAGNIFICENCE:

I will ride it to the library.  On the trail.  Maybe to screen printing classes.  Ironically, there will be no beach cruising, seeing as the beach does not have sidewalks.  but I finally own a MINT GREEN BEACH CRUISER.  I haven't named it yet.  But don't even mess with white wall tires and a white seat.  If this bike were a jive, I would dance all night long.  You heard me.
Plus I have been doing alot of hands on 3-d stuff so even when I have "taken a break" I am never taking a break.  List of "crafty mccraftpants" things:

-A super sweet 1960's airline purse to sew
-A stuffed animal to sew, and also stuff
-A stuffed pillow pb and J sandwich with a side of kick ass
-A quilt, but an awesome one that isnt all country and full of star spangled crap
-Mosaic vase/pencil holder, for pencils or maybe even pens or just pennies and straw wrappers
-A fabric...painting? collage?  I guess collage painting?
-A fabric portfolio for other places not here
-Various "to do for Etsy Shop" projects.  Including dish towels.  Yeah, boyee.

Anyway enough updating.  I will slowly be getting back on schedule as I get bored.  So yes.
There will be things popping up here and there as I get the anna train out of the station and back up the hill.

So there won't be any updates until I get settled in.
